As always at the Cargo Facts Symposium, there was considerable discussion of the impact of e-commerce on the air freight and express industry. Rich Corrado, COO of Air Transport Services Group, set the tone, when he said that global e-commerce is growing at twice the rate of regular retail sales, and Steve Rimmer, CEO of lessor Altavair, tied e-commerce growth to air freight when he pointed out that “e-commerce demand has driven airplanes into conversion in ways that weren’t expected 5 years ago.”
