摘要

You might think the hours-of-service (HOS) rules that took effect on July 1, 2013, are a concern for trucking companies only. But any regulation that alters carrier schedules ultimately affects freight brokers, 3PLs, and the rest of the supply chain. In case you're not familiar with the details, the HOS rules state that commercial motor vehicle drivers can be on the road for a maximum of 11 hours in a 14-hour workday, following 10 consecutive hours off duty. They must take a minimum 30-minute break during the first eight hours of a shift, and cap their maximum average work week at 70 hours, down from the previous limit of 82 hours.
