Thales has announced that it has been awarded a contract by Siemens Transportation Systems to supply the ticketing system for the first metro line in the Algerian capital, Algiers. The new line is managed by metro operator Entreprise du Metro d'Alger (EMA). Thales will provide a complete integrated ticketing system based on a combination of magnetic stripe and contactless ticketing technology (type B compatible) for the ten stations alone the line.
