摘要

Copper impregnation into carbon materials has commonly been done for electrical applications. Recently, the application of copper impregnated carbon materials to the plasma facing components of fusion devices have been investigated for the improvement of thermal and mechanical properties. Copper, however, is known to be poor in wettability and reactivity with carbon. Therefore, improvements of the properties could possibly be restricted due to the weak contact between copper and carbon. It can be assumed that an addition of a metal which is reactive with carbon impregnated with copper metal can be one of the solutions, thus providing good contact with impregnated copper metal and the pore walls of carbon materials. In the present study, we tried to impregnate copper-titanium alloy into an isotropic graphite block, and the gas permeability of the material was evaluated.
