Global CO_2 emissions hit record in 2013

The Global Carbon Budget 2013 has been released, incorporating data from multiple research institutes around the world on CO_2 emissions, carbon increase in the atmosphere, and land and ocean sinks, for its annual assessment of the earth's carbon budget. The latest Carbon Budget, led by the Global Carbon Project and Tyndall Centre at the University of East Anglia (UK), has projected a 2.1% rise in global CO_2 emissions for 2013, making global emissions from burning fossil fuel 61% above 1990 levels. The projected rise for 2013 is similar to the rise of 2.2% in 2012.
