Driving down the motorway at the legal limit during a torrential downpour, the owner of this 1995 BMW 520i was suddenly faced with the loss of his wipers. Luckily the road was quiet and his sudden deceleration didn't cause any problems to other motorists. Pulling over to the hard shoulder, he had no option but to call out his recovery service to get him back home and the vehicle to us.rnThe cause of all this distress and disruption was down to a £3.50 link in the wiper mechanism. One of the ball sockets had worn allowing the link to pop off, meaning loss of drive to the wipers.rnOnce the scuttle panel had been removed, the new link was popped into place in a matter of minutes. Refitting the scuttle panel and wipers completed the job and restored full wiper operation to the vehicle, should the owner need it!
