ROVER GEARBOX SEVERED SHAFT

Telling us that the clutch on his 1996 Rover 216 had failed, the owner asked us if we would tow the car in. When we got to him, we gave a quick check and sure enough, there was no drive to the wheels and it seemed as though the clutch had broken. Once the gearbox was removed, things looked slightly different. Unbolting the clutch from the flywheel, we found nothing wrong with the unit at all. Putting the gearbox in gear and turning the input shaft by hand, we discovered that drive was not being transmitted through the box.
