Freight is now moving in and out of the Olympic Park in East London by barge following the opening of Three Mills Lock on the Prescott Channel.rnThe switch from road to water began with the removal of waste from the site to a recycling centre in Rainham, Essex. Timber, cardboard, plastics and packaging are being loaded at a new jetty on the Waterworks River and will travel down to the Thames. As part of the Olympic Delivery Authority's target to maximise sustainable transport, 350-tonne barges are being used for both waste removal and the delivery of building materials.
