Caring for castles - and roses!

Q My wife has recently painted castles & roses on the wood panel of our boat's cratch and on the rear doors which are metal. What is the best way of protecting her work? Should I varnish them or cover them with a high quality wax polish, orrnsimply leave them as they are.rnA It's difficult to give a definitive answer withoutrnknowing the type of paint used. That said, it can do no harm to varnish the decoration whatever the material. Use a good quality non-polyurethane varnish and apply two coats, rubbing down lightly in between.
