Birmingham boasts more miles of canal than Venice, and to emphasise this unlikely but often-repeated statistic British Waterways teamed up with local businesses for a Venice-themed afternoon.rnBars and restaurants provided Italian themed fare, there was appropriate music from the bandstand, and of course it wouldn't have been complete without a genuine Venetian gondola providing public trips - accompanied by an impromptu chorus of Just One Cornetto from the outdoor customers every time it passed the Malt House pub!
