Regarding Jeremy Nichols reply (CB, August) about council tax and the lack of payment for residential boats, I'm living on a boat and don't pay council tax.rnI have a licence and pay a premium rate to sit in a marina and pay extra for electric and pump-out facilities. In short, I pay for everything I use.rnSurely we boat owners deserve a refund if anything. We pay for our licence and for the use of facilities and again if we are on a marina. The costs are calculated by the length ofrnboat and the facilities you use and each time you pump out you pay again. If anything we use less than a house so why should we pay more tax? We are not fixed to any sewage or water system. I work and pay taxes and this year in moorings and licence fees I've paid out ￡4,000 plus so far. I only paid ￡900 in council tax when I had a two-bedroom house.rnCut us some slack - most of us pay our way.
