Q During the cold spell our Paloma water heater froze up and now leaks. As they are out of production what can I replace it with? I would like it to be frost resistant if possible.rnFirst, as a reminder to all who have instant gas water heaters on their boats, don't forget torndrain them down for the winter if the boat is to be unused.rnThe answer, though, is not as straightforward as it seems. If you have a heat exchanger or skin tank/keel cooled engine, I would suggest the long-term solution would be to change the water heating to an engine-heated calorifier with, if appropriate, a mains immersion heater for use when a shoreline is available.rnIf you have an air-cooled or rawrnwater-cooled engine you will have to consider another gas heater, but first see where the leak is coming from.
