Despite the birmingham Canal Navigations being badly affected by work to repair the important Chasewater reservoir, 18 boats showed that there is still life on the BCN in a highly successful BCN Society Explorer Cruise. A route was chosen which avoided taking too much water out of the Wolverhampton Level, the length most affected by the reservoir work. Starting atrnBrierley Hill, the tour took in Hawne Basin, the Rushall and Daw End Branch to reach the northernmost reaches at Anglesey Basin before returning south via the Wyrley & Essington (pictured) and the Old Main Line to Titford. Although some sections were weedy, the W&E was reported to be "surprisingly easy", as was the Old Main Line.
