It might have been a disappointing summer for sun-seekers, but at least the wet weather has meant that lock hours restrictions in force on the leeds & liverpool canal since the spring could be lifted. In late june it appeared likely that 'second tier' restrictions might see the overnight closures extended to three more flights but, by the end of july, reservoir stocks had recovered to 57.6 percent of capacity (twice as much as at the same time last year), allowing british waterways to end the limits at greenberfield and barrowford locks.
