Getting the seal right

In your crick boats review, the writer said some of the paintwork on the handrails on our boat 'was a little messy'. This was not the case. He must have run his fingers along the underside of the handrail and felt the sealer between the steel and wooden handrails. These have to be cut and planed to the correct size and shape, then covered with resin. Once four coats are on the underside of the handrail, that is covered with sealer. The rails are then bolted down from the top and the sealer squeezes out to make a watertight seal. Then the sides and top of the handrail, including the sealer, are covered with resin and paint.
