No IWA National in 2012

The inland waterways association will not hold a national festival in 2012. Concern that the event would struggle for support in a clash with the london olympics, especially given that many iwa volunteers are likely to be employed to organise olympic visitor moorings, have led the association to take a year's break from running the national. The iwa also cites a busy programme of other events, including stroud on water (incorporating the national trailboat festival) on the cotswold canals over the extended queen's diamond jubilee holiday weekend, and the iwa campaign rally at preston on the august bank holiday weekend.
