Boaters heading for the 2012 London Olympics by water can now book their mooring places for the Games - some at prices which, while they will bring in useful revenue for the charity which by then will be running the waterways, have led to a few raised eyebrows. The 13 sites in the immediate vicinity (or easily accessible by Underground) are mostly on offer for between £246 and £420 per week, with the most expensive in Paddington Basin costing £560. Berths further away, at five sites along the Grand Union reaching as far as Tring, are priced at a more modest £70 to £140.
