The Canal & River Trust has now held the first four of a series of open boater meetings around the country - and the subjects of canal maintenance, towpath use and moorings have come up in all of them. The meetings, held in Birmingham, Nottingham, Banbury and Leeds provided an opportunity for local boaters to meet CRT Chief Executive Richard Parry and other senior staff to ask questions on any aspect of the waterways. Hot topics so far include towpath cycling; moorings (including continuous cruising issues, visitor moorings, online/offline moorings); and operation, maintenance, vegetation control and dredging issues.
