Proper prop

Q: The Beta 43 engine performs well in our 59ft boat - we slide past moored boats at 900rpm, cruise (if sufficient depth) at 1250-1500rpm and at 1700-1800rpm in deep water; however, on tickover the prop makes an annoying splashing. What's your advice to overcome or reduce low speed prop wash? The current 18in prop (pitch unknown) was damaged on a submerged object and is due to be replaced. Would a slightly increased pitch help to solve the problem or do we have to opt for a reduced diameter?
