On 3 March, my wife and I were on our way from Shardlow to our mooring at Stenson Marina when a dog walker warned us of a tree over the canal between bridges 9 and 10. It had been very windy and cold for a few days so we weren't surprised. We discovered the big tree across the canal at about 11am. We called the relevant emergency services via Canal & River Trust and very good they were too - they sent a team of three men to stand on the towpath and admire the fallen tree. They informed us that they couldn't help so a contract tree firm was given the task of dealing with it.
