WRG targets the Chesterfield

Four worksites on two canals attracted more than 70 volunteers to Waterway Recovery Group's annual Reunion, an annual major working party which this year was based around Killamarsh on the Chesterfield Canal. Volunteers tackled trees and vegetation at three locations on the canal - the eastern approach to Norwood Tunnel at the current limit of navigation from the Trent; the next length of canal beyond the newly opened Staveley Town Lock at the end of the restored Staveley to Chesterfield length; and on the length of canal between these sites at Renishaw. In addition, a group headed off to the Cromford Canal to surface a length of towpath at Ironville Locks.
