I have just read an article in your letters page and can not let it go without comment. We did the same stretch he mentioned for the first time in June this year and had a totally different experience. The Wyrley and Essington is not only beautiful with hardly any rubbish but has no locks on, it was the Tame Valley Canal that had weed and rubbish at the Perry Barr locks but after doing two or three locks the weed and rubbish was less. I would hate this damning account by Stuart Bryce to put people off visiting as we only saw one hire boat travelling in four days.
