I found the article I Dig Canals very interesting as I was at Ashtac and the 1973 Droitwich dig along with others members from the West Riding branch of the IWA. At Ashtac, we slept on the floor in a window of an old gas board showroom with a very full portaloo. My late husband Malcolm and I joined the IWA around about 1970 taking part in many working parties, mainly in the north - Huddersfield Narrow, Yorkshire Derwent, Rochdale to name a few. We also went on a few big digs as mentioned above and also the Southern Stratford when it was owned by the National Trust.
