We've already brought you a story some time ago about the Amsterdam 'Roboats'. These are the unmanned self-driving autonomous robot workboats which are being developed so that they can be set to work on the city's canal network -doing jobs such checking air and water quality, or collecting the rubbish that accumulates in the canals. But now it's getting a bit more sophisticated. The new generation of Roboats are described as 'shape-shifting' ones. These boats "autonomously reassemble into various configurations", a number of boats coupling together into straight lines, squares, rectangles or "L or Z shapes" to form structures such as pontoon bridges, floating music stages and even floating markets.
