MARINA PLANS ON HOLD?

A planning application for a new marina on the Oxford Canal, opposed by some local people and marina operators, has been withdrawn. Plans were submitted in 2017 for a new 250-berth site on the summit at Glebe Farm, Claydon. Its supporters said it would support the local economy, mitigate the effects of the HS2 railway which would cut through the farm making agriculture less viable, and that it was the only one of 14 sites considered which was viable. Opponents argued that its traffic would overload local roads, that there were few facilities for boaters to use, that there were already ample nearby marinas, and that it would be out of character.
