The outlook for the troubled Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation may be improving, with the waterway largely cleared of weed and the directors confident that they can put this Essex river navigation on a sound financial footing. However the company is to remain under the control of an Administrator for a further year. In July the Inspection of the Line took place: a journey along the length of the waterway by the directors of the Company of Proprietors, and Canal Boat joined invited guests representing local authorities and waterways organisations on the trip-boat Victoria.
