It was almost at the end of the holiday and quite by chance that we met Bob and Jenny on Ivy May. Little did we know, at the time of that initial encounter, that their friendship would save us from an uncomfortably close acquaintance with a weir. It was raining - serious rain that rattled and bounced off the boat. It was nearly lunch-time when we decided we had to brave it and we set off just behind this other narrowboat, asking if they would wait for us at the nearby lock. They did - and so began a couple of days of cruising along together.
