Over the last couple of years, colour measurement has become more important in pressroom operations as international corporations begin implementing, or already have established, corporate colour management programs. These companies are specifying colour(s) and their numerical values and any tolerance method that has to be used for ensuring the target colour is achieved on press.rnDiverse companies, or various divisions of the same company, may use different colour difference equations for their quality control/quality assurance issues. These colour-differencing equations express numerically the difference between the colour standard and the printed sample. In the title of this article four colour-differencing equations are mentioned. One might wonder why there are four equations that can be used, and no set standard that specifies which equation has to be established. Let's explore.
