Green Building Transitions: Regional Trajectories of Innovation in Europe, Canada and Australia

Concerns about reducing carbon emissions are at the heart of current policies. As a result, there are many books and papers dedicated to climate change, carbon emissions, human-environment relations, and urban sustainability. Julia Affolderbach and Christian Schulz took a unique approach with this edited volume, dedicating it to a single aspect that can influence all the others: green buildings. Their choice in doing so recognizes that “the building sector is one of the largest contributors to human-related greenhouse gas emissions but also one holding great potential for lower emissions due to the availability of technologies and opportunity for innovation” (p. 4).
