Sharlena Leatherwood, owner of North Oak Pharmacy in Kansas Mo., figured there was strength in numbers. So she joined with thousands of pharmacy owners to charge that illegal pricing by drugmak-ers was driving her and her colleagues out of business. The group pinned its hopes on a class action seeking to bar drug companies from offering discounts to large groups such as HMOS, hospitals, and mail-order sellers, while small customers paid full price.
