Argentines have made a lot of noise banging pots and pans lately. But that's not because they've been celebrating the arrival of the New Year. Rather, they are protesting as their government disintegrates before their very eyes. First, Radical party President Fernando de la Rua resigned, a victim of the country's four-year-old economic crisis and inability to avoid a record-sized default on its $132 billion in debt. Then his successor, Adolfo Rodriguez Saa, stunned the world on Dec. 30 by doing the same, charging he was sabotaged by fellow members of the Peronist party.
