BLUE BUS SELLS TO ARRIVA NORTH WEST

Arriva North West & Wales acquired Blue Bus of Bolton, the largest independent in Greater Manchester, on 31 July, taking Arriva into parts of Greater Manchester and Lancashire that it hasn't served before. Arriva bought the whole company — Blue Bus & Coach Services — for £2.9 million, although it is not clear how many of the 83 buses and three service vans acquired will see long term service. The oldest is a 25-year-old ex-Scottish Bus Group Leyland Leopard and 16 of the newer buses are DAFs supplied by the Arriva Bus & Coach dealership. One of its last secondhand purchases was a Stagecoach Dennis Lance written off in the Carlisle floods; it was due to enter service with Arriva in August.
