Tram company man to chair Lothian Buses

David Mackay, rnchairman of Transport inrnthe council-rnowned company developing the Scottish capital's new tram line, succeeds Pilmar Smith as chairman of Lothian Buses on 1 January when Smith, a former Labour politician and one-time vice-chairman of Heart of Midlothian Football Club, stands down after 12 years in post. Last December, Mackay became chairman of TIE, which is eventually to merge with Lothian Buses to create a new council-owned company, Transport Edinburgh. Mackay (above), a former group chief executive with John Menzies, already was a Lothian Buses board member and is honorary colonel of the Scottish Transport Regiment.
