Bob Hind (March Buses) may be interested to know that Midland Red and Leicester Corporation were not alone in being locked in combat during Britain's darkest hour. Twenty-six miles north of Leicester during 1942/43 there were, at times, acrimonious proceedings involving the Ministry of War Transport, the regional transport commissioner, Nottingham Corporation (not Nottingham City Transport but the town clerk), Midland General and Trent. No one disputed that additional public transport was needed in the Wollaton Village area of the city, but the question was who should provide it.
