A remarkable event on Saturday 12 April - part of Transport for London's Year of the Bus -telebrated the 75th anniversary of the first of London Transport's RT family in 1939 and also the 35th anniversary of the last RTs in service in 1979. Staged by the London Bus Museum, it was a 15-bus recreation of a section of route 22, which had been the first route worked by RTl and the so-called prewar RTs, which appeared after World War 2 was declared. Back in those days it ran from Putney Common to Homerton, but now terminates in central London, its eastern end to Homerton taken over by route 242.
