Swiss breakthrough for Enviro500 as it goes ultra-low for Canada

Alexander Dennis has made its first major breakthrough into a mainland European market with an order for Enviro500 double-deckers for Switzerland, and has also revealed details of the lowest double-decker in over 50 years for operation in North America. The Swiss export triumph, announced on the opening day of Coach & Bus Live at the National Exhibition Centre, is from PostAuto, which is taking 19 Enviro500s built to a 4m (13ft 1in) overall height for operation on steep incline routes in the St Gallen area where a demonstration vehicle was tested this past summer. These vehicles, in the iconic yellow Postbus livery, will have three doors and two staircases and join a fleet that has previously purchased its double-deckers from Neoplan. "This is an interesting development that again opens up new market opportunities,' says Alexander Dennis chief executive Colin Robertson, 'particularly as PostAuto is constantly increasing its presence in Swiss cities, conurbations and neighbouring territories.'
