Students conceive Paris double-decker for 2035

Fifteen French design students have presented their ideas for a landmark Paris city bus for operation 20 years from now -a double-decker that offers 'a very French DNA'. The project is a joint venture between CNH - the Fiat-owned parent company of Iveco - and the Nantes Atlantique School of Design, which recently established a transport design programme. It is collaborating with Iveco Bus and CNH Industrial Design on the Paris Bus 2035 project. The students were asked to propose their ideas of what the French capital's buses could look like in 20 years' time. They presented their concepts in May in the form of digital sketches, 3D models and mock-ups. The front half of the double-decker has theatre-style tiered seating. Claire d'Achon, senior industrial designer for CNH Industrial's bus ranges and herself a graduate of the design school, worked with the students to help them appreciate all aspects of bus design including the exterior structure, interior layout and the services they are expected to provide.
