MK COACHWAY - 30 YEARS IN BUSINESS

Milton Keynes Coachway was 30 years old on 30 April, a facility that today is quite different from that I described in August 1989 Buses. Back then, it consisted of a loop road alongside the A509, just west of Jet 14 on the Ml. The intention was to provide a link between central Milton Keynes for express coach services using the Ml. Serving that area as part of their route would add in excess of 30min to their journey times, not only inconveniencing other passengers, but also causing driver hours' problems on some routes. The link was provided by a National Express-branded 12-seat Mercedes-Benz 307 minibus operated by ABC Taxi & Bus Travel of Olney. This service ran over 30 return trips per day and was contracted by Buckmghamshire County Council.
