Manchester's Metroshuttle slimmed by new tram line

Transport for Greater Manchester is to restructure the free city centre Metroshuttle network in Manchester, following a marked drop in passenger numbers. Metroshuttle was introduced in September 2002, replacing the previous Centreline city centre midibus service. Several changes have since taken place, with the routes most recently restructured in November 2016. First has run the services since they started, though its current contract expires this autumn, having reached the maximum legal length of eight years. TfGM owns the nine hybrid and three electric Optare Versas, and eight hybrid Optare Solos that are used to provide the network. Five are in a generic silver livery, with the others painted in a route specific colour.
