Council-owned Reading Transport has continued its recent path of expansion beyond the town's boundaries to acquire the Newbury & District name and operations from the Weavaway group. The deal, which took effect from 14 September, establishes Newbury & District as a standalone company alongside Reading Buses, although they may merge at some point in the future. The new company has a separate operator licence and management team and continues to run its services from a Weavaway depot at Greenham Business Park.
