The GRC Recognizes Worthy Contributions to Geothermal Energy Development Worldwide. Over the past three decades, Ben Holt has helped the geothermal industry emerge from its infancy and mature into a reliable and important worldwide energy source. Indeed, he has devoted most of his more than 50-year career to the development of geothermal resources. His achievements were first recognized by the GRC with a Pioneer Award in 1992. As a chemical engineer with broad experience, he founded theBen Holt Co. in 1961, and by 1968 was working to help develop the hypersaline resources in the Salton Sea region of southern California.
