The Port of Barcelona has opted for the arch AB01 as a new signal at its entrance aiming to improve maritime safety and overall to facilitate vessels manoeuvring in their approach to the harbour. The AB01, developed and patented internationally by the Spanish company Archbeacon, is committed to creating a new marker which resolves the traditional problem of locating the port entrance whilst making use of an innovative and avant garde design. However, the initial approach to the project does not end there. The idea is to add aesthetic value to a public construction beyond its functionality. For this reason, ABO I has a carefully developed design, which makes it an item that is capable of being integrated into the surroundings of the port whilst also creating an impact on the casual observer. Therefore, this innovation has been a finalist for the 2009 Adi-Fad Awards and the 2010 St. Etienne Biennale.%Archbeacon, membre industriel de l'AISM, a mis au point et déposé le brevet d'une nouvelle marque maritime utilisée pour la première fois à l'entrée du port de Barcelone pour faciliter l'arrivée des navires. Finaliste de deux concours en 2009 et 2010, la valeur esthétique de sa conception a un impact certain. Sous le nom d'ABOl la structure en acier ou en fibre de verre est tubulaire et indépendante. Elle se développe en une arche de 6 mètres de rayon et est équipée de six panneaux de LED intégrés. L'unité est positionnée de fa?on optimale à l'extrémité d'un dock adjacent à la balise d'entrée de port. Son design a beaucoup attiré l'attention et il est question d'en équiper d'autres ports espagnols. Archbeacon envisage de collaborer avec d'autres membres industriels de l'AISM.
