Michael Card à été recruté par l'AISM pour le poste de Secrétaire Général adjoint. Il a pris ses fonctions le 1er octobre 2012 et possède une compréhension profonde du développement et de la fourniture d'aides à la navigation tant du point de vue de la gouvernance que des aspects techniques. Il est titulaire d'un master en ingénierie des sciences de l'université de Melbourne et dispose d'une expérience étendue de la conception et de la gestion des aides à la navigation acquise au sein de l'administration et du privé.%He brings to his new role a deep understanding of both the government and the technical aspects of the development and the provision of marine aids to navigation. Mr Card has a Master's degree in Engineering Science from the University of Melbourne, and an extensive experience of marine aids to navigation design and management. After initial responsibilities in radio navigation and visual signalling for the Australian Department of Transport, he rose to become the head of the Australian Federal Government's marine navigational aids service and represented that country at IALA meetings and conferences.
