RAM takes a tilt

The Port of Nakhodka in Russia is using RAM Spreaders' tilting spreader to handle coal exports from special containers. This is a good example of a specialised container supply chain, with purpose-built container equipment. The customer is using special containers with flat (rather than corrugated) inner walls that make it easier to unload the coal when the container is tilted to an angle of 45 degrees, providing the coal is not wet. The containers have a tilting hatch that is manually unlocked before the container is tilted. Once the locking device is unlocked, the holding devices on the spreader keep the hatch closed until the spreader is tilted to an angle of 45 degrees, when unloading can commence.
