After years of impasse and disagreement, one of the world's biggest untapped iron ore deposits, Simandou in Guinea, could finally be developed. In February, the government of Guinea concluded a surprise deal, under which BSG Resources (BSGR), which was previously controlled by Israeli billionaire Beny Steinmetz, gave up its claims to the reserves. However, in April, the London Court of International Arbitration ruled that BSGR should pay Vale US$1.5B, plus costs and interest.
