Re-berth for Port Augusta

South Australia's long dormant Port Augusta will be revived as a bulk commodity transhipment facility, under a A$250M plan by magnetite miner Cu-River Mining. The company has agreed to purchase Flinders Power's decommissioned 1,068-ha power station site in the Upper Spencer Gulf for conversion to the new purpose as soon as feasibility and approvals processes are complete. The retention of key infrastructure at the site, including a 5 km rail loop and unloading systems, made the site an attractive proposition for Cu-River.
