TKF hands over turnkey project

ThyssenKrupp Foerdertechnik (TKF) has handed over a new coal export terminal to AS Coal Terminal in Muuga (Tallinn). The facility has a coal export capacity of ca 5 mtpa. To build the port complex, 1M m~3 of spoil were dredged for the shipping channel and 1.5M m~3 were excavated to create the new berths. The terminal itself required dredging 2.5M m~3 of sand from the Bay of Muuga. The sand was deposited in a basin at the edges of the bay. Coal from Siberia is delivered to the port by rail. The coal wagons are uncoupled and discharged by a tandem tippler installation. A thawing plant has been installed to ensure that frozen coal can be emptied from the wagons throughout the winter.
