Prospects abound in the Russian Baltic

Earlier this year the US$60M multi-purpose Cargo Handling Complex (UPK) was launched at the Russian Baltic seaport of Ust-Luga. This is the third cargo handling facility, after Rosterminalugol's coal terminal and the Yug-2 ro-ro terminal, to be put into operation at this deep water port in Luga Bay. Phase one of a purpose-built sulphur terminal should be commissioned by the end of this year and construction work has started on a 500,000 TEU/year container terminal.
