New Coal Export Terminal Mooted For Richards Bay

It has been reported in South Africa that an unnamed consortium is planning to construct a new coal export terminal at Richards Bay, next to the existing Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT).rnThe handling capacity of the latter is currently being expanded to 91 mtpa, partly in order to provide capacity for the country's emerging black empowerment mining companies.rnHowever, there is still felt to be too limited an allocation at the terminal for empowerment firms and so a new terminal could be developed in competition with what is currently the biggest single coal terminal in the Southern Hemisphere.
