More investment for Guinea

The government of Guinea is in talks with China Power Investment over the development of a new bauxite mine and associated port. The mine will be located near the coastal town of Boffa, which lies halfway between the capital Conakry and the northern border with Guinea-Bissau. Total estimated project development costs of US$5.8B include the cost of a new coal fired power plant and alumina plant. Guillaume Curtis, secretary general in the ministry of mines, confirmed: "We are indeed in talks with China Power Investment for the construction of an alumina refinery that will have a 4 mtpa capacity."
